Use Case
The Computer Science Department at Columbia University conducted research detailed in the paper “ProLex: A Benchmark for Language Proficiency-oriented Lexical Substitution.” They aimed to develop a benchmark for evaluating systems that suggest higher proficiency level vocabulary substitutions in learners' writing, thereby enhancing the vocabulary diversity and writing proficiency of non-native English speakers.
And they used Cathoven to filter substitute words by their CEFR levels, ensuring that the substitutes were of equal or higher proficiency than the original words used by language learners.
